Another Masculine Handmade Card :D

Hey everyone! My second card for today, and also the second one for the Play Date Cafe Challenge, so if you want to see my first one please click over here :)

This handmade card I also thought to ‘target’ towards guys, from young boys to boy friends or boyfriends, to husbands, to dads and grand dads! It’s blue and yet has a bright yellow to it, which I like.. Masculine cards don’t always have to be dull colours, right?

Tip: Don’t have matching buttons for the colours you are using? I have a tip that I just made up today LOL! First, you need a Copic marker (or any other permanent market) that matchs or coordinates with the ink colour, a white/cream button, clear embossing powder (fine grain!) and a heat gun.

1. Colour button with marker, if it has grooves/designs you don’t have to get into all the nooks and crannies.
2. Allow to dry for, in my case, like 20 seconds because I have no patience LOL – I found that with Copics, even after it has dried, it still feels tacky on the button; I suppose it’s because it’s not made really for colouring on plastic.
3. Dump button into the clear embossing powder and make sure the top and sides of button are covered with the powder. Tackiness from the Copics will let the embossing powder stick.
4. Pick up button from embossing powder container with some tweezers and put it on a heat-safe surface, using the tip of tweezer to make sure button won’t fly around while being heated (believe me, it will!).
5. Blast it until all powder melts but don’t overdo it. Beware: button will be VERY HOT so leave it to cool first before working with it
6. Tadah!! Buttons coloured to your choice and all sealed in!

I love my self-coloured buttons! ^_^

For the Boys

Hello! Today I made a card based on this colour combination at The Play Date Cafe. Initially I wasn’t going to give it a go because I realised I don’t have any more cardstock in that sunny yellow/orangey colour, but then I remembered I do have inks in that colour! Woohoo!

Decided to make it a card geared towards guys/boys, too!

Tip: I created that scallop by cutting a border die cut in half, length-wise. The die originally looked like this:

So go and check out your border dies/punches and see if any of them would be totally changed up if you cut them in half!

Won’t you give me somebunny to love…

Another card… using one of my favourite dies from PTI, the Parisian Lace doily to emboss instead of cuting all the way through

This bunny here is from Lawn Fawn’s My Silly Valentine set and is just the most adorable thing ever. I have finally jumped on the Copic bandwagon and after a few test colourings. Pretty proud of myself. I even gave it some blush hehehe! And I just adore the little red heart <3

Bunny is slightly popped up with foam adhesive to give some dimension. Oh, I just adore this bunny and I am sure I will reach and reach again for it.

Here’s a card I promised to show you yesterday! A lovely friend already bought this (and the previous card) to send as Valentine cards, I’m so excited to make a sale! :’)

I used some grey grosgrain ribbon from American Crafts called Ash, that I thought was a very good match for the PTI shade called Stone. Can’t compare as I don’t have any Stone ribbons but this will do!

The sun was shining so brightly in my balcony! I think it was around noon that I took this picture… I do love that it brought out the pretty glitter in the pink glittered heart by Melissa Frances. I have been hoarding those hearts she used to sell (or rather, I can’t find them anymore).

for you… my love :)

Unlike making cards for Christmas, I feel like Valentine’s is much more fun to craft for… Since you can give out handmade I love you cards all year round! I think that’s why my inspiration hasn’t run too low even with it looming ahead as it would usually if I had to craft a lot for a particular holiday.

Excuse my lighting! It’s so hard to photograph cards without a lightbox and I think I desperately need to make one… The problem is first I need to get out of my chair. LOL! And then I need to actually make the darned thing.. Oh goodness. Now I’m wishing I had a DH; I imagine it would be lovely and fairly convenient for a crafter who had a DH into DIY so he can help custom make racks, tables, cupboards to hold all the lovely embellishments and supplies.

Lots of Papertrey Ink Mat Stack 4 action here! Hearts are from My Favorite Things, and of course the tag is from Tiny Tags (PTI)! I’m loving the kraft buttons from PTI too… They look like they will go with anything!

Market Street Stamps: Paint the Town Color Challenge II + Moxie Fab World Punches Challenge

Here is my second card for the Market Street Stamps Paint the Town Color Challenge. To see the first card click here.

As I only own a few MSS and only in backgrounds, I decided to get a little creative with the use of those that I do own… More MSS with other images are on the way to me but while waiting… Here is how I used the Honeycomb stamp. By using my Fiskars stamp press and pressing down where ever it will ink up on the card on something with already lots of layered circles!

Market Street Stamps: Paint the Town Color Challenge I and Happy Chinese New Year!

Hi everyone and a Happy Chinese New Year! It is the first day of the new year according to the Lunar calendar!

Here is my card for the Market Street Stamps Paint the Town Color Challenge.

As I only own a few MSS and only in backgrounds, I decided to get a little creative and ink up by dabbing only certain portions of the sheet of stamp with Versamark and then pressing on to my card at random areas:

Colour Create: Challenge 87 – Red, cream and sage green

Made a card based on the colours in this image:

Red.. Sage green and cream.. Sounds lovely and lets me get back into the CAS loop

Embossed with a die used and impression plate to create this… I do so love the texture this creates very much.

Finished with a little seam binding ribbon bow, trinket pin with a tea-stained tag, stamped with ‘Thanks” as the sentiment… All in all, just a very clean design!
