My name is Stephanie and I am from Singapore- I have a keen interest in many diverse fields, which has led me to where I am today.
I have a degree in cell biology and biotechnology; after graduating I took a brief hiatus to contemplate what I should do next, and with a twist of events, I ended up becoming a make up artist! I even completed a diploma for make up and hair artistry- many of my friends in the science field were shocked that I had put my education behind me to pursue something so completely different. You can view my beauty blog here: Kittymao– it was my portfolio blog but I have a soft launch for it as a beauty/fashion blog and will be posting on it regularly very soon.
I have a pup (okay, fine, she’s two years old but still a puppy in my eyes) named Kitty and we spend lots of time together ^_^
I have a few illnesses ‘under my belt’, the two that affect me most being bipolar disorder (previously mis-diagnosed as clinical depression) and fibromyalgia, to put it simply I experience a lot of pain and sometimes the simplest thing like getting out of bed or brushing my hair is a difficulty. This makes it hard for me to tolerate the long hours and physical exertion that comes with being a make up artist.
At 23 years old, I’m also suffering from cervical spondylosis which is the degeneration of joints in my spinal vertebrae at my upper back, and this is something that usually affects people who are older.
Please note I’m not telling you this to get your sympathy- I like to share my experiences and thoughts regarding my illnesses so that people can know that these can happen to anyone and everyone, and I hope in doing so I can help to lower the social stigmas attached to them, especially mental health issues. It’s not just ‘in your head’! Sure, something gone wrong in there, you just can’t see it, and usually most of us need some (or a lot of) help to become better!
I am very glad to be apart of the papercrafting and stamping community, I have never, NEVER met more generous and loving people. You are all dear to my heart, and if you have read this far, congrats, lol! 😉
