A transformation!

Wow… I really disappeared from the craft scene a fair bit there didn’t I? I currently live in Australia with my cat named Mausy in the city of Melbourne. Love it to bits here.

So I am back and ready to rock, but this time with new content that may or may not be related to craft or art. I hope to be able to turn this is into a Stephinka blog of winning here and winning there, win, win, everywhere!

In the past year, I have managed to accumulate for myself even more diseases- I was officially diagnosed with coeliac (or celiac for you US peeps) disease. This means I get an autoimmune response to gluten and it kills my intestinal cells.

I’m also working on my Graduate Diploma at university in Psychology and hope to wrangle my way into a Masters programme. Without further ado… I’ll get started!

Just sharing some great giveaway news and saying hi!!

Wee Memories Final Challenge + ColourQ challenge + more

It appears that I happen to make posts while people in the other side of the world are soundly in bed (usually).. Bahaha! I am like the bogeyman! Dun dun dun…

Okay, okay, I’ll cut it out lol. Today I’m making a pretty significant, bittersweet post in the sense that one of the challenges I have made this card for is closing down their challenge department 😦 Big shout out to Wee Memories! I’ve only done one other challenge from them before but I had heaps of fun, thank you for doing the challenges, Jenny and I totally understand that you have had to stop doing them!

This is the sketch I have based the card on, from Wee Memories:

Wee Memories Sketch Final Challenge, stephinka cards, handmade cards

And my colour combinations are from the ColourQ challenge:

Without further delay here is my card:

handmade card, handmade pink card, handmade cake card, scalloped edged card, shabby chic card, grey twine, stamped tags, papertrey ink, polka dot card, handmade card singapore

Still having the experimental scientist part in me, I decided to stamp some polka dots in ‘shadow’ style… And it looks like a bit of a fail but hey hey, it looks a wee bit more rustic and more imperfect, right? I think I must learn to embrace imperfections 🙂

The cute pastry image which I think totally fits the colour combi really nice, is from an etsy shop, madebyjanet. I think that’s where I bought it anyway >_> Bad memory alert.

With a little Twinery twine in stone, a melon button and a little tag stamped in grey…. Sweet on you! 🙂 N’awwww… I think this makes a little more subtle sort of Valentine’s, doesn’t it? 🙂

Thanks for visiting me ❤ I love comments and always try to return them and vist your blogs! xx Stephinka

Wee Memories – Challenge #83 – Our Final Challenge!
colourQ – challenge #119

Happy Love Day!

Hello there everyone! Today I have a card to share with you, and it is a super pink and fun card… and I mean it is REALLY pink!!! I kind of love it. Funny, a few years ago I was like blegh at pinks, and now hot pink is one of my favourite colours. Okay, I’ll stop the rambling and bring on the pics!

handmade card, handmade valentines card, handmade card singapore, scallops, heart border die, pink cards, challengeOnce again I put my Silhouette Cameo to work, and made the two doilies with it! I just bought some Studio G clear stamps from my LSS that were like $2 each and I used one of it here, embossed with Zing embossing powder in Blush, to match the pink doily 🙂 I’m surprised at the quality of the stamps, which were made in Taiwan, but they were not the strange plasticky types like Kaisercraft (Made in China) ones… Not sure if I make sense. So if you see the little Studio G packs, snatch them up!

I also allowed myself to buy 2 6×6 paper pads (I have SO much paper! D:) and here I used the Doodlebug Sweet Cakes patterned paper… I love this paper pad, it is super cute and very PINK! Totally suitable for Valentine’s cards or just love cards in general.

CFC33 + Market Street Stamps Block Party

Holy moly… I’ve been absent! Yes, I know! I’ve been quite ill and was hospitalised a few times in November and December, but I’m back now and ready to rock for 2012! When I saw this challenge on CAS-ual Fridays, I knew I had to take part.. because it was linked up to the Block Party Market Street Stamps challenge. I just received my MSS stamps recently and it’s a great chance to play.

There are two ways to play… to make a project with kraft and twine for the CAS challenge, and to use a Market Street Stamp for the Block Party. Without further ado, here is my card..

I used the Market Street Stamps Bit of Burlap to stamp over the I Love You diecut focal point in Versamark ink to give it a bit of texture. I do love the background stamps offered at Market Street Stamps!

beautiful blooms (Shabby Tea Room Week 74)

I am so, so happy that I got an Honorable Mention Cup of Tea at The Shabby Tea Room for last week’s challenge! *tears of happiness* Can’t tell you how much that means to me!! Anyways, when I saw this week’s challenge I just *HAD* to do it, ASAP.

A tea theme with blue and green! Sweet!!! I saw many of the DT examples using teapot sets and whatnot… Which I do not have… Bugger lol! I decided to look for something tea-related in my stash and I came up with a collage image that I bought from Etsy (by madebyjanet) and printed some time ago… It’s perfect, a teacup filled not with tea but flowers! 😀

I decided I had to made the flowers in the teacup with paper flowers from my growing stash- I have an unhealthy obsession with those and figured I was going to bust them out for this challenge.. I’m quite happy with the outcome 🙂

I used New Leaf and Enchanted Evening cardstock from PTI for this creation- with Tim Holtz Distress crackle paint in Picket Fence to paint on the blue cs, and Stormy Sky Distress Ink to ink up the collage image that I already took to a paper destroyer distresser. I LOVE Tim Holtz’s stuff… They are just awesome.. By the way, the little easel I use so frequently is also painted with a THICK coat of the crackle paint and then sanded ^_^

Pretty flowers!!! Skeleton leaves! *dances around the room* Doesn’t this make you want a teacup of flowers too? Thank you for visiting me!!! HUGS!

Other random supplies:
Giga Guidelines Impression Plate (PTI); Versamark; American Crafts ribbon.

The Shabby Tea Room Week 73

This week’s challenge is to use three patterned papers in the card! I was really thinking I was in trouble- Usually I only work with 2 patterned papers, and then add a little strip of plain coloured cardstock, but 3 sounded a little busy! I decided to go for it, as I needed a card to send to a PTI forum friend and this challenge was just the thing I needed to kick my bum into action.

And voila!!! I used papers from Crate Paper Emma’s Shoppe collection, which I have been hoarding 🙂

The embossed frame is from Crafty Secrets, but they are sent to me in a package by the sweet Viola Mahr when we did a little swap 🙂 I inked up the raised parts of the frame and heat-embossed it to make it stand out a little more, and rubbed some Colorbox Creamy Brown chalk ink along the sides to distress it.

The crochet flower is from a dollar store and the satin posy is something that I also sell in my store here, and the pin I made myself- also in the shop!

Other supplies:

Ink- Memento Tuxedo Black; Dies- PTI button card die; CS- Bazzill basics Kraft; Stamps- PTI Mega Mixed Messages

Before I go, just wanted to share a final set of cards I made today:

I love them! 😀 They have no sentiments, so they can be used for just about anything!

Supplies used:

‘Vintage’ book paper (from a Harry Potter book! LOL Yes I am horrible; did anyone spot ‘Ron’? :D); PTI Half and Half dies and stamp; PTI Butterfly die; PTI Take Note stamps; Doily and tag stamps- MME; dotted line stamps- Hero Arts, Ink/etc: Studio Calico Mister Huey in Clover, Memento Tuxedo Black, Jenni Bowlin Chewing Gum ink, Ranger Ultra Fine embossing powder, Versamark, MT washi tape, SU! scallop punch, cotton twine, manila tag

Thank you for visiting 🙂

One card and two challenges woop woop!

But before I start… Introducing Triny:

I wish I could tell you that I got a new cat, but no, I live with two cat-hating dogs and my mother who is cat-phobic… Triny is a stray kitten I rescued from next to a major road, she was literally ONE step from getting on to the path of oncoming traffic. There was one time when I picked up a dead kitten who was killed by traffic, to prevent it from being run over and over even after death. Its body was still warm when I put it by the side of the road (couldn’t bring it home to give it a decent burial) and I was so heartbroken for it, so I really feel for stray animals, and most especially when I know they will be in immediate danger unless a human intervenes.

Triny was mewing in distress and seeing it had no mother cat around to find it and bring to safety and it was alone and clearly lost, I carried Triny back, and my very kind neighbour took her in. She has grown so quickly and it has only been a few days! Before I keep digressing LOL here is my card:

This is made for the 1) Papertrey Princesses blog group challenge by Princess Leah where we have to make a card we will give away, and 2) The Shabby Tea Room Relax & Enjoy challenge where the challenge is to make a card with yellow, pink, green and any neutrals.

Holy smokes, how can you resist a colour combination like that? I couldn’t. I used felt from my stash, and the picture does it no justice but the darkest pink is a really HOT pink- if you use PTI and are familiar, it is JUST like Raspberry Fizz!

I was too distracted by a party going on in the neighbourhood to take proper pictures, so please excuse me LOL

I embossed the cardfront to give it some texture, using the Cane Print impression plate by PTI, easily one of my favourite IPs! Now that I am done showing you my card, allow me to continue….

MRAOW!!!! Triny is a fiesty one 😀

Arty shot against the trees from the jungle (yes there is this small jungle behind my house :|)

Make it Monday project 2!

Yesterday I posted my first project using the dry brushing technique, and here’s my second one! If you’ve seen my post on the PTI forum, I was admitted into the hospital ER and had to stay overnight so they could watch me and make sure I was breathing >_< But I am home now and I hope I will recover quickly!

Quite a simple card, I tried to really focus the work on the dry brushing so it would stand out more from the card. I used the Damask Designs stamp to give the orange background some white, and then I was at a lost of what to do with the card!

Being sick does very funky things to one’s inspiration. Anywho I dug into my stash and found this cute Echo Park sticker and decided it was going on my card with some Stickles to highlight the cupcakes!

Glittery cupcakes, would you eat one? 🙂

I topped the card off with some Twinery twine, and trimmed down a Melissa Frances words flashcard so it was a cute tag size, and rounded off one side with my corner rounder, punched a little hole and finished the card off!

Thank you for visiting me, I would like to come to your blog too, so remember to put your URL so I can find you 🙂 Cheers!
